1899

In 1899, the ‘Hotel-Pension Noordzee’ was built on the current Kon. Wilhelmina Boulevard. After ‘Huis ter Duin’, the first large hotel in Noordwijk aan Zee. The hotel had 50 rooms with a villa on each side called “Anna” and “Christina”.

1910

Several celebrities have been guests, including Sigmund Freud, who stayed at the hotel for an extended period in August 1910. This holiday of Freud is best known for his conversations with the composer Gustav Mahler who visited him in the hotel.

1912

In 1912, the Christina villa was replaced by an eye-catching tower (known to many Noordwijk residents as ‘the little tower’) with the Noordzee restaurant located on the ground floor.

1920

Bathers can enjoy a sea bath with the help of bath carriages with a healing effect on body and mind.

1940

During the Second World War, Noordwijk became part of the German Atlantic Wall. The war meant a temporary end to bathing tourism and Jews were no longer welcome. Hotel-pension Noordzee protested by tearing the word ‘not’ (welcome) from the placard on the hotel door.

1975

The hotel remained the property of the Van Beelen family until 1975, until they sold it to the hotel manager Mr Brouwer. Less than five years later, the hotel came into the hands of British investors, including The Ladbroke Group and The Principal Group.

1995

In 1995, Cor van Duijn became owner of the hotel. Together with his wife Plony, he immediately started a large-scale upgrade and transformed a somewhat dilapidated hotel into a chic and cozy accommodation with an eye for detail. Together with a number of other hotels, it became part of the ‘Golden Green Hotels’, which were transferred to both his daughters, Evelien and Lione, in 2013.

2021

In 2021, daughter Evelien took over the hotel in Noordwijk with her husband Jan Roggeveen. The hotel that Van Beelen once started has once again become a family hotel. This time with a special mission and a new name: Two Brothers Noordwijk Beach. Based on experience with their own sons Luca and Joshua, both of whom have a form of autism, the Roggeveen family helps young people from this target group find a place to develop.

Two authentic fishermen’s houses from 1785, located behind the hotel, are now also available for a nostalgic overnight stay on the coast.

2024

A milestone to remember: 125 years on the boulevard. Together with a new name (and mission) we celebrate this anniversary of the current ‘Two Brothers Noordwijk Beach Hotel’, part of the ‘Two Brothers Hotel Company’ – Hotels with a Mission –
